KATANASOUND VOLCANIC ERUPTION Octave Fuzz Pedal
The case is not the only reminder of the famous orange and blue-era Univox “Super Fuzz,” as its sound has been faithfully reproduced. Not content to simply try and replicate the circuitry, I wanted to capture the same nuance and feel when picking. A long series of trial and error led to what I think is one of my best pedals!
KATANASOUND VENOMOUS SNAKE Octave Fuzz Pedal
Inspired by the sound of Tychobrahe’s “Octavia,” the original circuitry I developed for Venomous Snake provides an extremely bright and metallic sound. The violent and unique sound still gives just the right amount of compression and a natural release level, making Venomous Snake one of my proudest creations.
The Mix dial controls the Octave ratio, and turning to 3 o’clock gives the Octavia-like sound. Turning the mix to the left lowers the Octave ratio, giving a bold fuzz sound.
KATANASOUND THUNDERCLOUD Overdrive Fuzz Pedal
One day I was asked to repair an early-70s “Big Muff Pi.” For some reason, despite a broken transistor the pedal had amazing tone. I decided to make a fully functioning pedal with that awesome fuzz tone quality – without broken parts, of course!
Compared to the original, Thundercloud has less distortion and a full Sustain, with an overdrive-like full and rich middle range.
KATANASOUND RAGING WAVE Classic Fuzz Pedal
This resembles the thick, warm, vintage fuzz sounds of the amazing “Fuzz Face” and “Tone Bender” pedals from the 60’s, but their Germanium transistors have been replaced by my silicone transistors and simpler, more efficient circuitry.
Increasing the Attack level results in a crazy, radical fuzz tone, while adjusting the Input Bias on the side can reduce the bass and allows you to drive the amp like a clean booster.
KATANASOUND KAMIKAZE SUPREME
For those demanding a more controlled and precise pedal, I have reengineered this Natural Booster version of my Kamikaze pedal to control the drive gain, using the following parts: MKT1813 Metallized Polyester Film Capacitor、CDE Silver Mica Capacitor、LCR Polystyrene Capacitor、DALE Mil Spec. Metal Film Resistors, etc. The result is an impressive, hand-wired tube amp effect. The teflon insulated, silver plated wiring gives a true direct response. The pedal is designed in a long lasting glossy black lacquer “urushi” style base with gold leaf style lettering.Read More
KATANASOUND KAMIKAZE Overdrive Pedal
This does not have the machine-like or unnatural compression of a standard overdrive, but boosts the pure sound of the guitar and sends to the amplifier. It sounds as though the guitar is connected directly to the amp and should change the way people think of “overdrives.” Please think of this as an amp in the shape of a pedal.Read More
