I was sad to hear that Jim Marshall died. The man behind the most rockin’ amp ever built! It was when my book Beatles Gear was first released in 2001, while I was in England doing publicity, that I had the pleasure of having dinner with Jim Marshall. After a lovely meal we smoked Cuban cigars and drank brandy while I listened to Jim tell me cool stories. It was a real memorable evening that was capped-off with Jim presenting me with a bottle of his special ‘Single Highland Malt Whisky – Bottled For Jim Marshall Esq’. I’ve never opened the bottle but in honor of Jim I think I’ll pour a tall glass and plug into one of my fave Marshall half stacks and think about the late great Jim Marshall!
