Johnny and I headed out to California and had a blast checking out all the cool new gear at the 2013 NAMM show in Anaheim this past weekend. Fender as always, had a bunch of new gear including some new Custom Shop guitars and Pawnshop models including a cool new Bass VI reissue.
Duesenberg had some great new guitars that including the new Mike Campbell Signature II with a built in fuzz, the beautiful new Starplayer Diamond TV model and the Starplayer TV Hollow Series with a cool looking Beatle Bass kind of sunburst finish! Also new to the Duesenberg line is the ultra cool Caribou solidbody with tremolo in ‘Narvik Blue’. We ordered all the new Duesenberg models and they should be landing at the Fab Gear showroom soon…
The other way cool guitars that we saw and had to have, were the reissues of the legendary D’Angelico archtop jazz box guitars. These guitars are real nice and very affordable. They have a whole range of guitars including an electric hollowbody bass. It’s worth having a D’Angelico just for the headstock alone!
The best amps we saw were from Magnatone. Yes, that cool old company established back in 1937 is reborn with a line of killer sounding hand-wired amps made here in the USA! The Twilighter looked fab and had an amazing sound. The Super Fifty-Nine was killer! They just launched the line at this NAMM show and we’ll have the new Magnatone amps at Fab Gear in the next few months.
It was great seeing and hanging out with all of our friends in the industry during NAMM. Last but not least a special happy birthday to Gretsch who are celebrating 130 years of business and to the C. F. Martin Company who are celebrating an amazing 180 years in business! Congradulations to both companies and thanks for making such fine instruments for all these years. At Fab Gear we are proud to be a dealer for these two fine and historic companies!
It’s all Fab Gear!
