Each Hofner Fab Gear Union Jack 500/1 is hand numbered and comes with a Hofner deluxe tweed hardshell case, certificate of authenticity, Hofner warranty / paperwork and an autographed copy of Andy's book Beatles Gear: The Ultimate Edition!

For Sir Paul McCartney’s historic live performance at Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Concert, Hofner built Paul McCartney a one-of-a-kind replica of his famous Hofner Beatle bass, with a special Union Jack flag finish pained on the top of the body. Paint artist Kevin Jennings was hired by the Hofner Custom Shop to create this one-off work of art. It was originally Jennings’ intent to finish the back of the body, the sides and the back of the neck in a deep transparent blue, but he ran out of time as Hofner needed to get the bass to McCartney in time for the concert date.

Subsequently, the bass that McCartney was given had a clear natural wood nitrocellulose lacquer finish on the back and sides. Jennings had only ever created one other Hofner Union Jack (for Tom Petersson of Cheap Trick) until now. Andy Babiuk’s Fab Gear has teamed up with the Hofner Custom Shop and paint artist Kevin Jennings to offer the Hofner Fab Gear Union Jack 500/1 Limited Edition Model.
